I need some advice. I've been sent an email by my friend concerning an audition for a play in London. The snag is that I don't know if I should go for it or not. For one, I don't know if it will interrupt with school - I'm gonna ask my Drama teacher for advice. I know it's just an audition and I might not get it, but I have to think ahead. Should I audition - that's the question. Here's the details:
~
3 Male Actors sought (35-40) + 1 Actress (17) for McDonaghs 'The Lonesome West' (Turnham Green)
Cast sought for Martin McDonagh's 'The Lonesome West'
(4 week run *at* The Tabard Theatre,Turnham Green, W4, London, Feb/March '08 + 4/5 week rehearsal period Jan/Feb '08, London)
Characters:
Girleen Kelleher : 17 (actresses up to 30 please apply) Father Welsh (M) : 35 Coleman Connor (M) : 40 ish Valene Connor (M) : 40 ish
The play is set in Leenane, a small town in Connemara, County Galway. Native dialect desirable but not essential.
Please send your CV, headshot and covering letter.
Please include in the letter a few thoughts on the character you're interested in auditioning for, or, if you prefer, a few thoughts on something else that captured your imagination today.

Deadline for applications: 1st October '07
~
This play, I just read, is winner of the Alfred Radok Award for Best Play, and was nominated for a Tony Award in the same catergory.

Ooh, I'd say go for it. If one of your goals in life is to act, then heres your big chance. And if it interferes with school, say you're going on a family vacation or something

DOITDOITDOITDOITDOIT! Some advice...even if you don't have a chance, always go for auditions...they're a great way to have fun and get your name out there.

The thing is, it's about nine weeks of my life that will cut into schoolwork. VERY IMPORTANT schoolwork. My practical Drama exam for Unit 2 to be exact. How am I supposed to split my time between a London play and my exam rehearsals? (I'm thinking ahead to if I got it) I'll be learning lines and stage directions for two plays at once.

think about my fellow band members and actors; they're learning/memorizing music and marches and steps to 5 different songs and learning lines and movements and actions for our school's fall play. Its very do-able, most of the actors in my school are band members. Its just time consuming, but very much do-able.
