OK this is set in the medieval times but there hardly any humans. Only small villages. It is set in england and most of the country is dense forest belonging to creatures beyond belief.
Ira sloped through the undergrowth, carefully treading over fallen branches and wet mossy stones. She tuned her crimson head and breathed in deeply. There was no scent of animal trail. She opened her mouth wide showing off pointed ivory teeth sharp enough to cut through flesh like butter. She was hungry, desperate. her stomach had been empty of food for almost a month now and she could not find even the smallest shrew to snack on. Her long tail curled unconsciously round the trunk of a thick oak tree. The long spines along her tail ripped off bark causing the tree to bleed sap. Ira set off again leaving deep muddy claw scrapes in the ground. The thorns of brambles bounced off her scales as if they were made of glass but ripped into the thin membrane of her wings as they were made from silk. She grunted and lifted them high away from her body. She turned away from a mossy cavern that smelt only of decaying leaves. A shuffle sounded. Just behind her. Ira turned and breathed out a wisp of Grey smoke. Her fan like ears swiveled as she listened to the quiet breathing of something wishing not to be seen.

Kyot's body was shaking terribly. The gryphon pushed himself further against the tree trunk sending a sharp pain up his broken wing.

yep Ira's a dragon and Pink you can join.
Ira spun round around curling her heavily muscled body as she avoided a tall birch. She sniffed the putrid air around the cavern and yes there was the rich smell of blood masked by the rotting leaves. Ira grinned, oh, how boring it would be to just kill the thing then and there. The fun of toying with the thing, now that thrills me. She blew a gust of hot wild in the front of the cavern stirring the vines that fell thickly over the entrance.

Kyot's breath froze in his throat as the dragon moved closer towards him.

Ira pounced ripping the vines away with razor sharp teeth. She paused to let her eyes adjust to the dark and thrust her enormous head into the entrance.

He saw the dragon's bright eyes looking around then resting on him.

"Why what have we here?" Ira purred "A Gryphon? Your kind are rare around here. Oh and what a shame your wing is hurt. All the easier for me to rip it off." Ira sat back and waited for her terrified prey to answer.

"We're rare because of dragons like yourself." Kyot spat a stroke of bravery hitting him but quickly vanishing.

Ira smiled "So you can talk. Surprising the last Gryphon I met never said a word but prehaps that was because she was clamped between my jaws" Ira's stomach grumbled prehaps this time she would just eat quickly. She was so hungry.

Kyot shifted releiving the pressure on his hurt wing. In the process he saw something, an opening. Large enough for him to escape, if he ran fast enough.

Ira saw her victims eyes shift she turned her head slightly in that direction but saw nothing. She growled and turned her attention back the Gryphon. He was gone. Ira roared in dismay. She knew she should of killed him when she had the chance.

Luckily for Kyot he was faster on land then in air. He wasn't clumsy like some of the other gryphons had been. The dragon hadn't seen him. He ran into the thick shubbery causing the sharp branches of the bushes to sting him.
