'I can't believe I'm gonna die like this,' Rourke thought to himself as he resisted the temptation to spit off the dirt clinging to his lips as he lied on the ground feigning death. Judging from the terrible wrath gushing in torrents from the man with a penchant for knocking people out as he laid into the teenage girl heavily, swearing at the top of his lungs, he wouldn't have to pretend much longer. His ax handle, though in an awkward, painful position as he had fallen on top of it, was a reassuring presence against his stomach, lest he had to try and fight his way out of this.
Or flee his way out of this. Yeah, he'd have more of a chance that way. Rourke was, after all, a thinking man, and unlike most Archonians he was willing to back down from a fight if the odds were bad. No shame in knowing when you're licked. His plan of action: use a gust to stir up the dust, and then find somewhere to hide as quick as his throbbing, exhausted legs would carry him.
The man stopped his swearing then. Rourke hardly breathed as he listened for any sign to spring (or limp) in action.

As she stirred, Ice felt a thumping pain in her ribs and between her legs. seeing as she was fully clothes and Chaandi was near by looking rather upset- but not thunderous, she knew she hadnt been raped. probably kicked or punched or something.
She sat up feeling rather unwell. scowling she put her hand firmly on the ground and withdrew power from the earth.
thats for not helping out, she thought angrily, glaring down at mother earth.
she looked round. Hunter was disappearing, and Trevor was no where to be seen. this wasn't good. she looked to where he had been trapped. there seemed to be some gr8 big hole there, she must have missed how it got there. hence her complete confusion as to what was going on.
She spotted the skinny man that had gotten stunned by Hunter's stupid Hawk (which she now couldnt see... it worried her). she either called after Hunter or spoke to the skinny man. she made a quick decision as she felt her ribs throb again. it didnt hurt- per say, and she knew the throbbing would fade. it just made her hate Hunter even more.
"hey you," she called over, "what the hell happened here?!" Chaandi slithered over to her, twisting round Ice's body to her neck. Both Ice and Chaandi watched the skinny man for a reply.

Nero wasn't entirely sure what he saw just happen. Out of nowhere a whole opened up, and the now apparent prince disappeared into it.
OK, what just happened? And do i dare follow the prince into that.....hole?
Watching what happened after, with the pissed off assassin beating up looking to beat up anything in his path, Nero ran straight to the hole and jumped down.
Anything'll be better than having to talk to him right now
Jumping down, he saw footsteps in the dirt leading back to the castle.
This guy just won't make it easy for me
Nero ran off in the foot prints direction, calling out the Prince's name as he ran.

"She can't be talking to me ... can she?" Rourke thought to himself as he heard the girl's voice waft towards him. Could she somehow tell that he was faking? Had she seen him move or something?
Decision time. Assess the situation.
Fact: the fact that she was up and about suggested that that other guy must've up and left while he was there playing dead. Fact: he knew nothing about who she was. Fact: she had done nothing so far to suggest that she would antagonize him. Fact: he was too worn to fight or run, but judging from the beating she'd taken neither was she. Fact: Hunter had knocked her out too, which therefore meant that they shared a common enemy.
To anyone else, it would have seemed that, weighing all these facts together, any potential risk Rourke could incur from getting up and talking to her would be minimal at best. She was beaten, she obviously was not in league with the guy who'd beaten them, and she had exhibited no violent behavior so far (at least not while he'd been awake).
But this wasn't enough for someone like Rourke. While he knew that logically he had no reason to fear, he still knew nothing about her and where her loyalties lied. He had assumed that the man had knocked him out, but there's was nothing to say that she couldn't be responsible. She had been there when it happened, and it had all gone down so quickly. Furthermore, for all he knew, the man had been the good guy in this situation.
The uncertainty of it all on top of Rourke's natural distrust and fierce independence added up to one conclusion: if you don't know what to trust, don't trust anything.
Which is why Rourke just lied there, hoping she'd believe he was dead as before, holding his breath. If she tried anything, the escape plan was still viable: stir the dust and bolt.
'Please go away,' he thought. 'Please, please, please....'

Ice rolled her eyes as he stayed put. She wasn't stupid. breathing was different wen one was knocked out, slower, calmer. his was faster, not panicy; bt faster. she got up and walked over to him, employing the use of earth to push a mound behind him and push him up. she stopped and squatted in front of him a little way from him, not wanting to scare him.
"listen sweetheart," she grinned, "we're on the same team here. Hunter knocked u out, hunter knocked me out. i want trevor, u evidently want trevor. we work 2gthr, we gt what we want... savvy?" she raised her eye brows at him. "i no ur awake, and i no u cn hear me. im playin nice at the moment, dont make me play nasty." her head titled to one side. "i dnt like playing nasty... i just no what i want. gonna help me or not?" this one was stubborn.

The earth lunged at him and smashed him upwards before he was ready for it. Rourke was caught unawares as he was suddenly lifted straight up into the air, stunning him out of his fake death as he gasped. He hoped she hadn't heard that.
"Listen sweetheart, we're on the same team here," she said nicely, rationally. "Hunter knocked me out, Hunter knocked you out. I want Trevor, you evidently want Trevor. We work together, we get what we want. Savvy?" A beat passed as Rourke remained resolutely silent. "I know you're awake, I know you can hear me. I'm playing nice at the moment, don't make me play nasty. I don't like playing nasty ... I just know what I want. Gonna help me or not?"
'Gee,' Rourke thought sarcastically, 'now I just can't wait to be pals.'
It was obviously no use to keep pretending. He sighed defeatedly as he opened his eyes to take her in. She was squatting down about three yards away to stare up at him smilingly. She was just a girl. He was at least 4 years her senior. She had a mess of short brown hair and was pretty short and thin, almost sickly so. Her stature obviously belied her true nature, as she was taking her beating like a man; she bore no signs of harm or weariness, and she still had enough strength in her to channel the earth. 'She must be a warrior of some sort,' Rourke noted to himself. Yet another reason not to trust her.
But as much as he didn't trust her, he sure didn't want her on his bad side right now. Two ass-kickings in the same day was more than enough, and he didn't want to go for a three-peat.
"What do you want?" he groaned begrudgingly.

She grinned at him, more smirked; bt close enough. "answers. wat happend wen i was out? where did the prince go? what the hell was wrong with Hunter? what did u want with the big cat? and will u help me gt the prince?" she paused, "ur not stupid. ur rational, and u think situations thru. id go as far as to say ur clevr. im a fightr, im gd @ strategy in a fight... bt nt gttin there. i reckon we cud make a gd team." her face was straight and serious, "i need the prince dead... or @ least 2 scared 2 go bak to the throne. i dnt think i cud do it on mi own..." she looked at him straight. she knew her limits, if she was going to gt bak at Hunter shed need help.

Rourke, despite the miserable state he was in, did his best to keep control of his face so as not to reveal his total relief. For once he was thankful that his fellow Archonians thought with their fists and not with their brains. They couldn't seem to grasp the concept that one of the most deadly weapons at anyone's disposal was information, and she had just given him plenty, freely to boot. She was either fearless or dumb.
Rourke guessed that she was probably both.
Rourke had now learned quite a few things, the most important being that the girl was obviously one of the Reds. He had already suspected she was a warrior, and she had just told of her intentions to kill the prince, a mission which would not be attempted by a mere villager. At least, not single-handedly.
He also knew that that other guy's name was Hunter, and that, given he had taken her down, he was probably a friend of the Prince's or a soldier of the Royal Army. He knew that she had no idea why he'd attacked them as well.
However, the most useful information he had gotten from her was that she believed him that he had information that could help her, and that she could trust him or that he was too insignificant to be a threat. Either way, she was totally wrong, and he could use that.
How? He had no idea. He had to buy time.
He pretended to consider her offer for a while before responding. "Perhaps it would be wise to discuss such things somewhere less public."
