I'm useless with watching the films that you've seen.

There's a debate to be had. Do your parents restrict what movies you watch? (Obviously some people have stated this before.) No matter which way your parents are, do you think it is better to keep kids from watching movies rated as inappropriate for them? Does it damage them, or prepare them? If kids are kept from R rated movies, will they necessarily disapprove of them all their life or be more inclined to watch them to get a sense of rebellion?
My parents are uber-protective. I do not like to watch movies with overt sex, language, or violence. I do not believe that this is because I was sheltered from it. I was taught that it, whether in real life (which no one can be entirely sheltered from unless they live in a bubble) or in movies, is damaging to the psyche and, in religious terms, the soul. Later I realized that a lot of it is extraneous, pointless, not artistic or beautiful. I generally don't want to watch what I'm told not to watch, so there is no problem.

I can watch almost any movie that I want, with a few exceptions on particular movies. I only like violence and sex in films if it looks 'good', ie, if it's well made in terms of film making. I was gradually let into the older movies as I got older, but many of them way before recommended. I don't think that I'm any different than if I hadn't watched those movie. Movies are fiction, and you'd have to either live in a place where it's all around you or already have a mental problem to take movies seriously. If a movie makes me uncomfortable, I label it as badly made and never watch again.
