I need to start compiling my notes from Mandarin Chinese class because they're so haphazard, so here's your chance to learn some stuff.
First off, here's a site that really really helps with pronunciation (the sound and meaning of a word does change when the mark above the vowel changes): lost-theory.org/chinese/phonetics/
Chinese symbols: www.chinese-symbols.com/ (some of these may differ from what I've been taught, I think)
ā á ǎ à ū ú ǔ ù ī í ǐ ì ō ó ǒ ò ē é ě èEnglish | Pīn Yīn (pronunciation key) Good morning! | zǎo shàng hǎo Good afternoon! | xià wǔ hǎo Hello! | nǐ hǎo Miss Mao (my teacher; direct translation is "Mao Teacher") | Mǎo lǎo shī May I come in? | bào gào? Come in, please. | jìn lái Goodbye! | zài jiàn I am very happy! | wǒ hěn kuài lè Thank you! | xiè xiè You're welcome! | bú yòng xiè Very good! | hén hǎo I am. . . | wǒ shì. . . You are. . . | nǐ shì. . . He/She is. . . | tā shì. . . Who am i? | wǒ shì shéi? Who are you? | nǐ shì shéi? Who is he/she? | tā shì shéi? See you tomorrow. | mǐng tiān jiàn See you later. | dāi huì er jiàn I've got to go now, but I'll have more of my notes typed up soon! Just in case the symbols don't show up:

No, Spanish is WAY easier than Chinese. Spanish and English share a few roots in Latin, but Chinese is completely different. I thought you said you were Filipino?

Yeah, my friend Li once tried to teach me mandarin...and I could never get the symbols right or understand how to pronounce it...

Thought it might be harder. Aw, come on, you haven't been learning long - do correct, then pretty.
