I'm strongly considering finally asking my parents for an Ipod (well, a generic one, knowing them ), and I really need some advice about what downloading service to use. I definitely want it to be legal (silly me ), and I was wondering if any of you could recommend one that's easy to use and fairly cheap (AKA less than a dollar per song because otherwise I'm not getting much use out of it ).

Just use the iTunes software, iStore or whatever (like I'd know the name, I don't use it). Their songs are pretty cheap.

Awesome, then. Just curious, though, would it work with an off brand MP3 player, or does that matter?

I dunno. Doubt it would matter.

I'm not sure about whether your offbrand player would be able to use those files, but I do know that for iTunes, the rate is usually $.99 per song, and $9.99 per album. I use it, and I like it a lot. It's very easy to use. Again, I'm not sure though if it would be compatible with an mp3 player that's not an iPod...
