John just called to see if there's any news or anything around here, and he asked to talk to me to tell me how he missed being able to annoy me. He was drunk and rambling.

First off, yesterday at lunch Sheryl wanted Christine and I to know something without the rest of the table knowing it just yet, so she showed us an ultrasound with her name at the top. Yes, Sheryl, a girl who is younger than me, is pregnant. However, what's done is done, and I know her mom and boyfriend will take care of her, and her boyfriend can have a steady job because he graduated this year, so I'm just going to be happy for her. Besides, I think she's pretty excited, and I don't blame her; having a kid's gotta be an exciting thing no matter who you are. There were about 15-20 kids who went to the leadership conference from our school, and before we left it, the speaker guy thanked a school (anonymously) for driving 3 hours in an un-air-conditioned old school bus in Oklahoma heat. That was us. Oh, and we all had the windows all the way down, so I had to spend five minutes running my fingers through my hair to detangle it every single time we stopped the bus or slowed down for a town we passed through. Oh, and we stopped at a convenience store on the way up, and I learned that I like lemon tea. Anyway, the speaker was hilarious, and he was a little blunt in places (Christine hated this because she loves for people to sugarcoat everything), and it was very interactive (he had us move around like five times and sit by someone we don't know), and it was overall great. Oh, and one chick I sat by really impressed me with how friendly she was; we were talking for a couple minutes, and it turns out she plays the flute, and afterward, we exchanged e-mails so we can stay in touch (I've noticed band people tend to do that when they get in large groups ). Oh, and as we were pulling out of the neighborhood onto the main roads, Mr. H. turned the bus at a bad angle (and while driving at a reasonably fast speed), and the tree branches lining the road came in through the back three windows and smacked some kids in the face. It was utter hilarity. Hmm, I think that's about all, but I'm sure I left something out. Anyway, yesterday was pretty cool. ;D

Sheryl's baby shower was really fun. I won a candle on the don't-say-"baby" contest. I can't wait to see her daughter; she's due in about a month. Plus, then Sheryl can come back to school and make lunch time less boring.

Gilly and I talked on the phone for the first time last night. I was shaking when I answered. I think I was subconsciously watching what I was saying (I failed miserably in some ways), so I didn't get to show off my Okie accent or say "y'all" (I say it as often as I type it, by the way) or anything. ;D We talked for about two and a half hours. There were some silences, but they weren't that awkward or anything (at least I didn't think so; I was just happy with his presence). We talked about all kinds of stuff: I made fun of the games at Sheryl's baby shower, and we talked about band and being section leaders next year, and we made fun of our school mascots, and we talked about our teachers and classes, and we talked about funny British accents, and it was just overall cool. ;D And I proved to him that I really am the clumsiest person on Earth as I have so long claimed; I dropped the phone five times and accidentally hung up on him once, and when I set the phone down to get a bottle of water, I hit my foot on a file cabinet while trying to get out of bed and ran into a chair right after that. Oh, and he has a beautiful voice. ;D

I bent my thumb nail backward just behind the white part yesterday when I was marking chalk on the ground during band. It throbbed for like five minutes, and now I have a red spot from the blood under the nail, and I have trouble doing anything with that fingernail (I use my nails to do stuff sometimes), so yeah, not fun. It's the third time I've done it while marking chalk, too.
