One thing that really helps me with inspiration for fiction is starting with a real movie or book or tv show. Then put you or someone you know in the story, and make things revolve around them in some way, thus changing the storyline. Once they're in the plot, alter things about them to allow you to mold the character and story better. Do this long enough and just keep developing and going further away from the original plot, and voila, you've come up with a whole new story. Some of you may argue that it should be called fanfiction, but if you did the trick well enough, it shouldn't end up like the original. I know that this works because I'm beginning a new work this very minute that happened this way. Once I post it, I dare you to guess what I based it on, but I don't think you will. Note for poets: If you're not much of a writer of prose, but more of a poet, you can write poems about emotions (that's why you've got to get creative and learn to incorporate new feelings!) and events and characters that come up in the story you made up. Although you may not feel you've got the touch for stories, it would be mighty helpful to at least jot down an outline so you don't forget, and you can go back to it for more inspiration at a later date. Good luck and happy writing!
