This past week, I've been going to a writing workshop that helped me a lot with poetry. I'm gonna post most of the poems I wrote there, so maybe you can see a difference from the first one to the last one Oh, and all of these were written from prompts, like what the first line is, or what the main metaphor is, etc.
Monday -
Steven popped, excited;
Frenzy, a jack in the box
A wild hyena.
Candy, laughing
Face bright, wanting the
"Popcorn to be ready!"
I was watching
The youngest kid in town
Become the happiest kid in town.
Tuesday -
Right now, someone somewhere found a quarter in the gutter
and used it to buy a piece of bubblegum in the dusty corner
store
Right now, someone somewhere is slurping of the last thread of
spaghetti, splattering marinara sauce all of his great, plump
cheeks.
Right now, someone somewhere is eating an ant in a playground
on a dare, and liking it.
Wednesday -
I wonder if my eyes are heavy enough
To withstand the bombing
The fall and rise, damn!--
It's no-man's-land.
The ability to sleep is the ability to keep
The enemy behind enemy lines,
Against the tanks and fighter jets.
For there is no rational thought
When I sit in front of my homework
And try not to lose consciousness.
Eyes that see through the computer screen.
A nose that smells something cooking.
Ears that hear a lawnmower in the distance.
A mouth that talks but can not hear.
Feet that hold the days' weight.
Fingers that dance the Piano.
A right hand that holds the notebook and
A left hand that holds the pen.
An observer that notices creations;
A creator that makes observations.
Thursday -
Damn fly
Buzzing around my ear
Trying to keep me from writing haikus
Tiny little spider
Wading through a puddle of moss
Into the shell of an acorn
Yellow brick house
Walls of vine
Frankenstein
Okay, please don't comment on every single one of them, but I hoped you enjoyed reading ;D
