And if you could submit an essay to the essay competition, that would help...
And maybe putting in a good word for my mod campaign...
Great signature, btw...

The poll was for my own amusement. Not for anything particularily serious. The structure of the last three lines confused you? All right. And, some of words seemed to tangle. "And thusly all would follow ere the guide" Ere the guide does what? "And time for Wagner still before its cease" The fact that I don't know whether Wagner is a name, a word evocative of something else, or even an event, confused this sentance. I understand about the lips, though there was no clear human face in the imagery before, so it seemed like they were floating in the air. There was "the face" mentioned, but then your imagery got away from such a physical and physically described object.

"And thusly all would follow ere the guide" = "And so everyone will follow earlier in time than the guide". What the guide does is not at all relevant. Why the hell would Wagner be a word evocative of something or an event? Wagner was a composer of the 19th century, famed for his long, long operas (Tannhauser was one of his shortest and comes in at a delightful 4 1/2 hours). I should think that anyone who knows ANYTHING about classical music would have picked up this VERY obvious hint.
JS
PS. Did you seriously not know who Wagner was? And if you did, did you REALLY not get my hint?
*looks with mingled fear and incredulity*

I had no idea who Wagner was. The sort of bands I listen to are Evanescence and Nickel Creek, good music but not classical. I can appreciate good music, but I don't know it as well as I probably should. I applaud you for knowing your composers, but don't be supercilious.

I know who Wagner was, but you cant expect everyone else too my dear John. Not everyone is as well educated as you are. And I mean that in the most respectful way possible.

I can pick up on most of the composers and artists you mentioned, but that is only because of the piano work I am quite forcibly pushed into doing, not because I listen to them. My parents however.... Well that is quite another story. I can't really comment on the poem, I understood most of it until it got to the Nymph bit. Uh I really need to get my understanding of deciphering sonnets more. Which most likely means being made to read Shakespeare. Again. And no, I don't find much of Shakespeare's work enjoyable. Sorry to say

Though I am the one who gave him his title "Fear Me" I must admit that I am not in the least afraid of him. I find his poshness charming and interesting.
