Well, I was, like, totally not up for reading the whole thread, so I, like, felt like putting my in because that's, like, why I stopped doing jointies.

I think the reason jointies tend to die is that people don't want to have to keep up with a complicated plot, and the story often depends on one or two authors/characters. I think we need to figure out a way to get a plot that anyone can jump into or out of fairly easily and make sure no characters are more important than others. That way no one feels pressure to be committed to it daily, so they don't end up permanently abandoning it. Well, yeah, but...How do we NOT make characters important like that? In order for it to completely work like you said, none of the characters would be able to interact or anything. Or that's what it seems like to me. How can we get a plot that's a plot and fun to write for those sticking around AND for getting people to join without getting too complicated to follow or keep up with or for new people to jump in? We're going to have to make sacrifices somewhere.

Why not a story where we play ourselves?

Ourselves in a different situation. Hmm.
Well, how about ... it just so happens we all go to the same school or something?

and since we don;t all have the same classes, we don;t HAVE to always be there. and there are days/weeks where we're out sick. We could be like a big group of friends. We should do after school hours too.

I love it! ;D
The backstory could be that we guildians decided to start (and attend) a school for writers (but it has regular classes too, as well, and you don't have to be a super ambitious writer to go there) or something. Hmm. Plop.

So it could be called the Young Writers School. Or Guildians School. Or something. I like that idea too! Except, we'd need a headmaster/headmistress like person.
