After you've been writing a while, you always start to develop your own style of writing. What are some characteristics of your writing or someone else's writing that you've noticed? Do you catch yourself consciously using style tools? I think it is very important to become conscious of your own style as you write. You may not realize it, but we often use style techniques to make our writing more effective. Here are a few things you might consider working on encorporating into your conscious efforts: Parallelism and Repetition Tone Heightened Style (ornate or academic wording) Figurative LanguageActive and Passive VoiceSentence TypesAudience and Purpose (I had some more that I was going to type, but my mind went blank, so please feel free to add to the list.) Please note that the use of proper grammar and punctuation and spelling is not just some option of style aside from dialogue - no matter what you may argue out of your laziness or stubbornness, it is necessary.
