Books about books. Woo! I saw at least one other person liked these...I thought Inkspell was better, more well written and I got so much into Dustfinger's character (*LOUD SNIFF*).

I have both books. They're good but Inkspell is way better even though I hate the ending......

Yeah! Well, it's the ending of a second "act" or installment in a trilogy, which often have cliffhangers. Inkspell was some of my inspiration for writing, especially Yingyns and Plotseekers.

Ah, you haven't read Inkheart until you've read the original text in German. The English translation is horrible, which is why the writer's voice in the English version sounds so... off. Certain phrases just weren't meant to be said in English.
But the German text is really quite good, and explains why Funke is selling as well as she is in Germany.

Oh, good! Now all I have to do is go learn German somehow, find Tintenherz, and experience the full glory Though I am trying to teach myself German. Learning Italian basics comes first, obviously, since I need it for my novel, but I am going to...eventually

Hehe. German is one of the easier languages to learn. No language is easy to learn, mind, but English comes from German, so lots of cognates. Plus, the German language is highly phonetic, and it actually obeys its own rules, unlike our pal English.

Well, that's good. My own self-study isn't going too well, mainly because I don't know how to pronounce anything.
But Italian...is very similar to French. And Spanish. And its roots are very easy to follow, like "bene" and such - it isn't weird and twisted like English roots.

Its ok Cy I feel your pain too. Although Inkspell was better written I liked Inkheart better than Inkspell.
