Looks like you guys have got some great stuff!
Your contest piece, the first one, looks extremely difficult, though.

Lol, the first one's actually easier than the second one in my opinion. It's just a simple little classic British march, and it's not super fast or anything, and the rhythms and notes are easy. *nods* Though it does make it a bit harder if you do the 8va thing at the Trio (I'm one of like two flutes who elected to do that because he gave us an option instead of a demand ).

We got straight ones in performance and sightreading today at state contest. We made sweepstakes, the highest honor given to bands in Oklahoma, because we made ones in both marching and concert band this year. ;D

So yeah, we got a 2 on our flute/clarinet trio yesterday at state solo/ensemble contest. I have many excuses for us, though. ;D a.) Samantha is a 6th chair sophomore. b.) The acoustics in the room were horrible (they really really were). c.) Elizabeth, our first chair clarinet who was an alternate at all state, got a 2 from the same judge, while some ensembles that had different judges and were worse than Elizabeth got 1's.

I picked up my piccolo late last night after community band rehearsal, tried playing for a few minutes, got out four notes (the first four notes of a low-octave F scale ), and had to go to bed. This morning, I got up and tried again, with only slightly more success. Just now I tried again, and I made a breakthrough by realizing I was trying to play in the wrong octave. I can now, very airily and squeakily, get out virtually all of the notes I can play on a flute (which is a fairly good range of them). I'm so proud. ;D

*highfive* Me neither In fact, I don't think I've gotten my flute out at home for...a year? Something like that. It's a real issue with band camp coming up ;D Do you play in a band, or for yourself?

ooh, for band, and camp is in two weeks. I just agreed to an art trade and I have church camp for one week, so chances are I dont get to show off for the freshmen this year. That's a shame too cause we're performing Pink Floyd for marching season^^

Lol, only people who are going professional practice that much. . . It didn't even take that much practice to learn the piccolo. . . PINK FLOYD?! Dang, we're stuck with a lame Arabian theme this year. . . We did Egyptian last year!

Meh, the freshmen are too scared to be impressed much, anyways At least we were... Pink Floyd, are you serious? What a neat show! Angie, seems like an Egyptian show would be a lot of fun...Arabian though, how do you do that? We've got a mix of The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, and Wicked...seems like it'd be a great show, but the music SUCKS. I'll see about scanning it in if you'd like so see...It's really crappy music though. And then besides not being prepared for band camp, my section has to come up with something amazing for skit night this year, because last year we were the worst, and then we have to make sure we come up with a good theme for our theme day, and oh gawd, they do this on purpose to make us anxious, everybody knows it's true...

Our band director is really cool, we did rent last year, and this year we're going to do some stuff we saw the blue man group do with blacklights in Chicago. If all goes well, the our drums and electric guitar should be entirely silluete (oh I SO just mangled that word) YOu guys's shows sound pretty cool too though!
