We just got a phone call from my aunt Sue, who is on her way down to the little town in Texas where my uncle Don and his wife Martha live. Apparently Don and Martha got in a car accident earlier. Sue's going to pick up Don from the hospital, but Martha's got a bad head injury, and they flew her to the base hospital. The doctors can't get ahold of their children, either. We don't know much more, but we're worried.

Still waiting by the phone; we don't know many details, but we should get some idea of how she's doing by tonight or tomorrow morning. . .

Wow, that's terrible, Angie ... I just prayed for you and your family, and I hope the next time you post you'll have some better news for us.

My mom just called Sue. Apparently they were going 70 mph on the way home from churche when Don overcorrected; their car flipped four times, and they landed in a field, trapped inside the car. Don remained conscious, and he said he counted four cars that passed by before the fifth one, their next-door neighbors, stopped to help out. The police had to use the jaws of life to get them out of the car.
They released Martha from the hospital, but her kids, who the doctor finally got ahold of, are going to take her to another hospital today. Her knees are swollen (she'd gotten surgery on them last year), and her face looks horrible. Luckily, there were no broken bones, but we really don't know the diagnosis or the prognosis just yet, so I don't think we're quite out of the water.

But still...that's just terrible...FOUR CARS?! Who could pass a crashed vehicle, and not stop to see if the people were ok?!

And they apparently looked like a sardine can, it was so bad. People are horrible.

I'm praying for their full recovery ... and that God would turn the hearts of people that would pass someone by ... my brother rolled his truck last year, so I kinda understand what you're going through ... he was, thankfully, unharmed ... just a little shaken.

Well, she can't seem to get an appointment at a hospital, so apparently she's not in danger of dying any time soon (I would hope not ). We don't know much more right now than we did a couple of days ago, though.
