This is a tutorial for the text on the abstract banner I did earlier. However, it won't be exactly like that text because I merged the layers without duplicating them. 1.) Create some white text with a fun, fat font (like alba). Put it on a nice random (and fairly dark) background. 2.) Duplicate your background. Layer > Transform > Rotate 180 degrees. Alpha to selection on text. Select > Invert. Edit > Cut. 3.) Set the white text layer to Value mode and lower the opacity to 45. Duplicate and set the mode to overlay. 4.) Name the top layer 1, the second layer 2, and the bottom layer 3. Duplicate layer 3 and name the bottom one layer 4. Fill it with black. Duplicate. Fill layer 5 with white. 5.) Using the move tool, move layer 4 down and to the right exactly one pixel (I use the arrow keys on the keyboard). Move layer 5 up and to the left exactly one pixel. 6.) Alpha to selection on layer 1. Select > Shrink, and shrink by 1. Go to layer 4 and cut. Repeat on layer 5. 7.) Move layer 4 and 5 to the top. Set both to overlay. Lower opacity if needed. 8.) Gaussian blur of 0.5 on all text layers before merging. TADA! ;D
