My statement was not absurd. If the UN considers us uncivilized as you point out, and I think many of its members would agree with you, then they should prove their point and meet in a "civilized country". Otherwise they prove themselves to be hypocrites.
What exactly was Kerry's exit strategy?
Oh, and by the way, I didn't say I didn't like Bush. I only meant that he is lacking in some regards, such as public speaking.

I was thirteen at the time, and not particularily concerned with American politics. I saw a debate on C-SPAN, and I recall him mentioning his website, which has naturally been taken down since. I think merely that leaving then (by whatever means) would have saved us billions and let them resolve it themselves, without our loss of life or money.

2) Weigh a Ph.D. with a "Gentlemen's C" MA. Hehehe...I can rhyme...and insult our president...hehehe you say 'our' yet you say you are from britain. which are you? and i have to say i agree that bush is and would always be a greater leader and politician than kerry even though i do not agree or like some of his decisions or ideas and i laugh alongside evryone else at his rather absurd statements. but bush is better than kerry and algore

When I argue, I try to draw myself into the situation. It isn't my place as a brit to tell you whom to elect. By sticking in 'we's and 'our's I can include my beliefs in the sum total of American beliefs, even though they aren't. I'm devilishly clever.
Seriously, though, Shmuggs, back up your opinion with some contrasts with differing policies. Aim for Den, and you might get there. Some of his beliefs are absurd and clash with science, but he is an interesting and effective debator.
Also - Al Gore is two words. And his movie was excellent. It really made you wish you'd have elected him.

and for JS, the majority of UN meetings on the subject of stem cell research occur in New York even though USA is against stem cell research. Does it matter where the meetings are held?
America is not uncivilised either. In many respects Britain is more uncivilised than America
scrap that point. It came out completely wrong and now I have lost my source on it. But no john that is not what i meant at all. And I have no elitist attitude

Did you just say that you would prefer tax cuts on the wealthy, having the money go nowhere, than a country-wide surplus and aiding of the poor? Even though I wouldn't mind America going into debt and being owned by China, your elitist attitude is disgusting.
If I were an american citizen with the approximate social and economic status of my parents, I would sacrifice tax cuts for helping the poor get back on their feet. I would consider it my patriotic duty. If I couldn't get a 60-inch plasma screen TV in my room, I would learn to make do wiht a thirty-five inch.
But separating the gap between the rich and the poor would lead to poverty, and poverty leads to hunger, which leads to rebellion.

Very long and well argued debate. Again, I cannot judge the winner because I participated. 'Tis a pity, with John gone I doubt we'll have such a good debate again for a while.

I suppose I could go over it. If you will allow it Den. Since I was not a part in the debate. If the winner turns out to... erm... not be here anymore, what do we do in that case?

Because my lack of computer, im going to announce the winner early.
First of all, congratulations to all who participated in the debate. In every post by each individual, I found pro's and cons.
The debate really ended up between two people (although high regards I present to Shmuggy and to Gilly for their extensive returns); Denithar and John Sapphire.
Both men presented their cases strongly, and boldly.
Denithar, never failing to strike back at notions so considerably against him. Your faith never failed to the end, and that is one character I must take into account. However, I noted several subjects that were in the end heeded to John. Not just from you, but from others.
And it is for that reason, and the reason that for the amount of works cited, and the presentation of his cases along with the information behind it all, I award this debate too:
John Sapphire.
Congrats, I wish you were here to enjoy it.
